Eva Shepard enters her classroom, yawning and heavy eyed. Her winter break has been... Wild to say the least. She gently takes a seat in her black office chair and goes onto her computer until the first bell rings, signaling the start of the school day.
After ten minutes, arriving to class two minutes late, Karissa Davis and Connie Han slip into the back of the classroom. They gently take their purses, which were dantily hanging off their arms, and place them under their desks. The two carefully sip from their hot starbucks cups and scan the classroom.
Eva smiles at her students. "Welcome back to school, I'm sure you all had a great break. I want to welcome you all to general business, I'm hoping you're all ready for a ton of note taking today."
The whole class groans, except one perky blonde. Sophia Hertz, already sitting straight up with her odd smile plastered on her face, speaks up. "I'm ready Mrs. Shepard!" She holds her new, black-ink pen and her kitty themed notebook.
"It's just Miss, I'm not up for being tied down yet," Eva weakly smiles at the overly eager student. It's too early for this, in Eva's mind.
Karissa rolls her dark eyes. "Ugh, Sophia's in this class."
"I was just kidding about the notes, anyways. Today's plan is the syllabus & that's about it," Eva informs while picking up a stack of mint-colored paper. She hands them out to each pair of desks.
Ignoring Ms. Shepard, Connie replies to her friend, "I know, totally gross. This whole class is embarrassingly gross. Look at how they dress."
"Seriously," Karissa says, sneering.
Josh Stone borrows a pencil from Blake Taylor. Josh didn't even look at him until Blake cleared his throat. He glances at Blake and notices something about him. He already knew Blake was new, but there's something else. Josh can't put his finger on what, but he thinks Blake looks pretty cool. "Hey man, you knew here?"
Blake nods, "Yeah, I'm Blake Taylor." He adds half a smile and lets it fade out.
"That's cool, cool. I'm Josh Stone. You can call me Josh."
Blake starts to chuckle, "Good to know."
The two continue their talking, which goes unnoticed by Eva. "I really don't care what you guys do. I'm not strict at all. I'm down with food & drinks, as long as you don't make a mess. If you make a mess, I'm not gonna be the one to clean it, but it's common courtosy for y'all to clean up after yourselves. I mean, you guys are almost adults, Mom and Dad shouldn't be wiping your chin after meals, right? Now, onto cell phones..."
Kate McCall pays attention to Ms. Shepard, or at least tries to. Her eyelids continue to flutter shut from getting less than four hours of sleep last night. She fights to stay awake, but ends up resting her head on her boyfriend's shoulder. Arthur Whales smiles down at her & sneaks a kiss on the top of her head. "Is this my fault?" He asks innocently, despite the smirk beginning to grow on his face.
"Of course it is. But I don't mind really. I didn't get to reply to your last message, fell asleep."
"Looks like you're falling asleep right now," Arthur says, his smile growing. Kate sits up and playfully slaps his shoulder.
"Wow! That sounds super exciting, Ms. Shepard! I wish I could have had a super cool new years day too!" Sophia says, putting emphasis on 'Miss' and the word 'super'.
"Shut up, Sophia. Being a schmoozer isn't going to get people to like you, so shut the hell up, you squished face, dog," Karissa snaps shortly through the first class of the day, mainly from the lack of sleep which makes her crazy irritable. The entire room falls silent and all eyes rest on Karissa. Karissa likes it that way and smirks while Sophia dramatically cries.
"That was so uncalled for, you self-centered puta!" Tammy Teeth screeches out.
Karissa and Connie roll their eyes at the same time. "Like you have room to talk, Tammy," Karissa replies.
Tammy pounces out of her seat and growls like a lion. Almost. Tammy has been practicing her animal sounds for weeks and the lion growl has been the toughest for her. "You have no idea what you're saying!"
Karissa and Connie start to laugh hysterically and Eva puts a stop to all the fighting. After Tammy sits back down, Eva sits on her own desk and crosses her long, slender legs. Eva flips her curled, black hair and her pursed lips open up into a smile. She starts explaining the next rule.
Marion Burke has no idea what just happened. This school is already extremely different from her old school. She bites her lip and listens to Ms. Shepard.
"Look at Bibi's shoes," Karissa whispers.
"What are you trying to say? Of course she doesn't know how to dress herself, she's freaking 12. Then again, when I was 7 I was a total fashion plate. Bibi is a lost cause. No guy will love her and her Wizards of Waverly Place shirts matched with pink cat ear head bands." Connie glares at Bibi and pretends to gag.
Keke Simon jabs Bibi Shang's back with a led pencil. "Aye."
Bibi turns around in her seat with narrowed eyes, "That hurt!" Bibi turns back to listen to Ms. Shepard.
Keke jabs Bibi even harder with the pencil. Bibi turns again, "Stop that!" And turns forward again.
Keke goes for round three and basically stabs Bibi with the pencil. Bibi lets out a shriek. "Leave me alone," she hisses at Keke. Bibi sticks out her lower lip and pulls the pencil out of Bibi's back. Keke notices that the pencil's point is still in Bibi's back. Keke shrugs and stands. She shakes her booty all the way over to the sharpener and sharpens until the pencil looks dangerously sharp. On her way back to her seat, Keke sticks it the pencil into Bibi with all her might. Bibi falls the the ground and screams.
Eva rushes over to the fallen Bibi and pushes the hair out of Bibi's face, revealing tears rolling down Bibi's cheeks. "She needs to go to the nurse, now."
"I'LL TAKE HER," Keke shouts and immediately throws Bibi over & onto her shoulder. Keke runs out of the room before anyone can say anything. Keke takes her to the nurse, but before going in, Keke gently carasses Bibi's head.
"Lil Bibi... I've been tryin'ta ask ya... Some of us be wanting you to join Claws. You in?"
Bibi doesn't answer, mainly because of when Keke was running down the stairs. Keke accidentally dropped Bibi head first and then Kiki lost her balance in her 6 inch heels. And Keke's large body landed on Bibi's fragile 12 year old body.
"LIL BIBI, TALK TO ME, DIS IS IMPORTANT!" Keke screams right in Bibi's face. The secretary at the nurse's office hears the shouting and opens the door. She glares at Keke and forcefully takes Bibi from her. The secretary brings Bibi to the nurse and leaves Keke furious. The bell rings and Keke's peers fill the hallway.
